Short answer. A ticket for Lascaux IV in Montignac-Lascaux is for a time slot, and the visit begins in a full-scale replica of the Lascaux cave. The original cave has been closed to the public since 1963. The official price is 23 euros for adults (13 and over), 15 euros for children from 5 to 12, and free under 5. We read the official pages on 24 October 2026. Prices and rules can change, so check them before you pay.

Book tickets →Lascaux IV sells its tickets on its own ticket shop, in French, English and Spanish, and at the desk, subject to availability. We are not Lascaux IV.
Is the original cave open?
No. The cave was found on 12 September 1940 and closed to the public in 1963 to protect the paintings. What you visit today is a full-scale replica in the International Centre for Cave Art, together with exhibition spaces. Lascaux II, a partial replica opened in 1983, is a separate visit nearby. The opening hours page has the dates.
How do the time slots work?
Every ticket is for a time slot and is not valid all day, children under 5 included. The visit starts in the replica cave at a fixed time. You cannot see the exhibition spaces first, and afterwards you explore them freely. Leaving the site is final.
The guided visit, with a mediator, runs in the morning and afternoon. The visit with an audio guide runs only around lunchtime: the official ticket page says between 12:30 and 13:40. The official ticket calendar lists guided visits in French, English, Spanish, German, Dutch and Italian, and audio guides in nine languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese. We could not see which slot is in which language, so check it when you choose.
How much do the official tickets cost?
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Adults (13 and over) | 23 euros |
| Children 5 to 12 | 15 euros |
| Children under 5 | Free, with a time slot |
| Reduced rate, sold only at the desk | 22 euros |
| Visitors with a disability, booked by email only | 16 euros |
The reduced rate is for post-baccalaureate students, unemployed people, large-family card holders and Crédit Agricole members whose card says sociétaire. You can buy it only at the desk, not online. The 16 euro rate for visitors with a disability is booked by email to the address on the official site, with proof of disability. Under-5s cannot use the audio receiver during the guided visit, and minors must always be accompanied by an adult. The Pass Culture is accepted, and journalists enter free on request by email at least 48 hours ahead.
Online you pay by card or e-ANCV. If you book online you cannot pay on site. At the desk the official site accepts cash, ANCV cheques and cards.
Combined tickets and the Pass
| Ticket | Adults | Children 5 to 12 |
|---|---|---|
| Lascaux IV + Parc du Thot | 26.50 euros | 17.50 euros |
| Lascaux IV + Lascaux II | 29 euros | 19 euros |
| Pass of four sites (Lascaux IV, Parc du Thot, Grand Roc cave, Laugerie-Basse shelters) | 40.50 euros | 26.50 euros |
There are no reductions on combined tickets. The official ticket shop says that Lascaux IV and Parc du Thot can be visited on different days, that the Grand Roc visit is guided and has its own time slot, and that tickets bought now are valid until 3 January 2027. Here is the official Pass page.
Other visits
The official site also lists special visits and evenings, among them a storytelling visit in some school holidays and a torchlight Prestige visit at 35 euros, in French only, which the ticket shop does not recommend under 8 and forbids under 5. Their dates are not always published, so we do not treat them as permanent.
Can I change or cancel a ticket?
The official terms say there is no right of withdrawal for leisure services, and that tickets cannot be changed or cancelled except in a case of force majeure. The official ticket shop sells an optional paid add-on that makes tickets changeable, subject to availability. We do not give its price because the official pages give different amounts. The official terms also say that tickets are personal and cannot be resold.
Where do I buy, and what does our partner add?
The official ticket shop is the operator’s own, and the official site says that buying from its own ticket office guarantees the best prices. Our partner Tiqets, a third party, also sells tickets for Lascaux IV. They are different products from the official one, and we found no list of authorised resellers on the official pages. We could not confirm whether our partner has an agreement with the operator. The prices below are the ones we saw on 24 October 2026.
| Option | Official reference | Tiqets price | What Tiqets says it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guided Tour | Adults 23 euros | 23 euros | Entry; a guided visit in French or English, listed at 1 hour |
| Self Guided Tour + Audio Guide | Adults 23 euros | 23 euros | Entry; an audio guide (languages on the Tiqets page) |
The prices are the same for adults. What the Tiqets listing adds is a booking page in several languages, while the official shop is in French, English and Spanish. The cancellation terms are on the Tiqets page, and the official time-slot rule applies whoever sells the ticket. Our tickets page shows the options with live prices.
Which option should I choose?
Choose the visit first. If you want a guide, take the guided visit, which runs in the morning and afternoon. If you prefer to go at your own pace, the audio-guide visit runs only around lunchtime. Then choose where to buy: the official desk has the reduced rates and the official shop has the combined tickets and the Pass, while a partner ticket can suit you if you prefer a booking page in your own language. Whichever you pick, choose the date and slot with care and arrive before your slot starts.
