How the time slots work

Every ticket is for a time slot and is not valid all day. Children under 5 enter free, but they need a time slot too. The visit starts in the replica cave at a fixed time and you cannot see the exhibition spaces first. Afterwards you explore the spaces freely. Once you leave, you cannot go back in.

On 27 October 2026 the official ticket shop offered slots from 9:30 to 16:40, which fits a last entry at 17:00. Arrive ahead of your slot: the official ticket page says that latecomers cannot be admitted. The official pages give different arrival times, so we do not give a number.

Guided visit or audio guide

The guided visit, with a mediator, runs in the morning and in the afternoon. The visit with an audio guide, without a guide, runs only around lunchtime: the official ticket page says between 12:30 and 13:40. Special visits, such as the storytelling visit offered in some school holidays or the torchlight Prestige visit, have their own times: see the official site.

Public holidays and closures

The official site does not mention closures on public holidays. Some secondary spaces may close temporarily, without a refund, according to the official terms.

School holidays

We have no official data on the busiest days. The official site advises booking in advance to be sure of a place. According to the open data of the French Ministry of Education, read on 24 October 2026, the autumn holidays in the Dordogne run from 17 October to 1 November 2026, and the Christmas holidays from 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027.
